Stainless Steel Pins and Sleeves
Stainless steel offers moderate strength and toughness but it is electrically conductive. Stainless steel pins are effective for manually hand-loaded welders that weld small parts. We have found them to be a good companion for Huys Modular Weld Heads because of their low cost and no need for insulation. As the weld locating pin needs to be insulated electrically from the weld current, our modular weld heads are designed with an insulated sleeve to achieve this.
Hardened Steel Pins
These are very similar to the above stainless steel pins, but are made with hardened steel which has better wear and toughness characteristics. They are often used as locating pins away from the weld zone where insulation may not be required.
